In the independent Bangladesh, there were four organizations in respect of government house / house allocation and renting of rentals: (1) Central Estate Office, Dhaka (2) Provincial Estate Office, Dhaka (3) Regional Estate Office, Chittagong and (4) Restroom Institution. After the independence of Bangladesh, these 04 offices were integrated into the Directorate of Government Residences and later on 09-11-1983 as the Directorate of Government Housing. There is a regional office in Chittagong.
